The Road by Cormac McCarthy

This book is intense. The father is doing the best he can with the apocalypse having just happened, but he eventually dies and we are left with the suspicion that the child definitely has a 50/50 chance of surviving. Many times in this book you will ask yourself “would I do this for my kid when the world ends?”
